TICKETS are on sale to see an internationally-acclaimed pianist and composer bring his latest band project to a historic church for a spectacular evening performance.

Andrew McCormack will bring Graviton to St Nicholas’ Church, in Harwich, later this month.

They will be performing as part of this year’s Harwich Festival.

The cutting-edge musician has assembled an A-list of the most sought after musicians in the contemporary jazz world for Graviton.

All of the musicians are sure to bring something to the mix.

Graviton takes Andrew McCormack’s stellar career to a newly-defined musical space, one which audiences will remember.

Now based in New York, McCormack was the recipient of the BBC’s Jazz Awards Rising Star honour in 2006, which was followed by a special commission for a Barbican concert by the London Symphony Orchestra as part of its prestigious Panufnik Young Composers Scheme.

Since 2007 he has been a regular member of Kyle Eastwood’s quintet and collaborated with the top British saxophonists Jason Yarde and Shabaka Hutchings among many others.

He is equally at home in a classical orchestra or as a solo pianist and at an outdoor festival or intimate club.

Celebrated jazz musician and broadcaster Jamie Cullum, who has also performed with McCormack, said: “Andrew McCormack is an extraordinary pianist and great composer with amazing technique.

“Graviton offers the highest level of musicianship in one band.”

For the Harwich Festival concert, McCormack will be accompanied by Noemi Nuti on vocals.

Josh Arcoleo will be on saxophone, Rob Mullarkey on bass and Jamie Murray on drums.

A Harwich Festival spokesman said: “McCormack consistently challenges himself to explore new and very different musical styles as an artist.

“Graviton is the latest stage in this dynamic process.”

The Harwich Festival is an annual celebration of music and the arts with live performances and events running from June 21 until July 1.

Andrew McCormack Graviton will be performing in the church, in Church Street, on Thursday, June 28.

The performance starts at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £10 per person from harwichfestival.co.uk and the Harwich Box Office in Dovercourt Library.

Tickets can also be bought by calling the library on 07425 145022.
