FITNESS enthusiasts are encouraging locals to join in with a family fun day full of sporting activities and competitions.

GB Fitness is hosting an energetic event with a tug-of-war, football, fire engines and sports races on Sunday.

The fitness fun day is taking place at Little Oakley Football Club at 11am.

As well as a range of sporting activities, there will be stalls to browse around, an assortment of burgers and sausages cooking on a barbecue, and a bouncy castle for youngsters to enjoy.

Money raised from the day will go towards Cancer Research UK.

Bridie Stanford, of GB Fitness, said the event is being held to raise money for the Relay for Life, which is a 24-hour walk over July 14 and July 15.

Bridie said: “We did the Relay for Life last year.

“After doing it last year, it was an amazing event with so many different emotions on the day.

“We laughed, cried and got tired, but it was worth it. So we wanted to do it again this year and as a way of raising money, we decided to come up with a family fun fitness day.

“We are in to all of that and it is all about healthy living.”

She said Sam Rosson has helped organise the event with her.

She added: “Me and my family are doing it in memory of our loved ones, in particular my grandad.

“Sam is doing it in memory of her friend.”

Running the relay will be Bridie and her husband Gary, members of her family and Sam.

Raffle tickets will be available to purchase on the day and Bride said all donations will be gratefully received.
