A VILLAGE field will transform into a traditional summer fayre tomorrow.

Wix is holding its sixth annual village fayre from 2pm until 10.30pm behind the village hall in Harwich Road.

The event will be opened by programme cover design winner Megan English from Wix and Wrabness Primary School.

Ray Murray, one of the organisers, said: “There will be a grand draw stall as you enter.

“Make sure you get your tickets as there are plenty of prizes to be won donated by various people including the parish council, the Golden Years and others - for which we are grateful.

“The first prize is £150, the second is £75 plus many more.

“There will be plenty of interesting stalls to keep everybody entertained, traditional and new.”

He added: “The world famous human fruit machine will be in attendance, a big favourite with everybody.

“Traditional stalls like the crockery smash, coconut shy, bowl for the leg of pork, stocks and welly wanging will be there.

“There will be a bouncy castle and slide with candy floss and popcorn, arts and crafts as well as a tombola stall.”

The fayre will also have a VW photobooth for fayre-goers to record a special moment, as well as a wine and water stall run by the Wix PTA.

Music and dancing will entertain the crowds along with a licensed bar and food stalls.

All money raised will be split between the Golden Years, the youth club, the PTA, Wix Pre-school, Wix Village Hall, St Mary’s Church and the Methodist church.
