There were some unusual pedestrians on the streets of Dovercourt and Harwich when fundraisers took to their prams.
The race was one of Helen Gallagher, the mayoress of Harwich's fundraising events to boost funds for her chosen charities of the year - Teen Talk, Harwich RNLI, Parents Supporting Parents, Cancer Research and the Essex Air Ambulance.
Mrs Gallagher donned a police officer's uniform to go with her team's police car-themed pram.
There was also a convict and a robber in her team.
Others dressed as babies, gorillas and pirates - and some had painted faces and wore wigs.
Dave McLeod, Mayor of Harwich, was the official starter at the Devon pub in Tollgate.
He sent about seven teams on their way.
They raced from the start line down Main Road, through the High Street and into Harwich where the finish line was The Billy pub in West Street.
Along the way, fundraisers stopped pedestrians and motorists and called in at shops and businesses with their collection buckets to raise as much as possible for the causes.
