A SUPERMARKET which plans to build a new store in Manningtree begins another public consultation period this week.

Tesco is holding two exhibition events at the Methodist Hall, South Street, Manningtree, from 2pm to 7pm on Friday.

On Saturday the exhibition will be there again between 10am and 2pm.

Michael Kissman, Tesco's corporate affairs manager, said: "The exhibition provides the opportunity of fully briefing the local community on the application as now submitted to Tendring Council.

"The scheme has been developed taking account of comments raised through last year's consultation period."

Mr Kissman said the plans include enhancing local highways including a pedestrian crossing on Station Road and a small roundabout at the entry to the supermarket on Station Road.

"A further small roundabout, instead of the existing junction between Station Road and Riverside Avenue East, is also proposed.

"These roundabouts will also help to slow traffic as it enters the town centre," he said.

On Friday June 13 the exhibition will be at the Venture Centre, Bromley Road, Lawford, from 2pm to 7pm.

On Saturday June 14 it will be there again from 10am to 2pm.

Although Tesco Stores Ltd recently submitted a full application for the new store the application has not yet been made public by Tendring Council.
