A LONG-running group which raised thousands of pounds for Tendring Technology College by running major events in Frinton has folded.

The parent-teacher association at the school, known as the Tendring College Association (TCA), has been forced to disband due to a lack of interest and members.

It has been running for more than 30 years and had been raising about £6,000 for the school every year.

Members have been responsible for running some of the biggest events in the area, including the Frinton Fun Run for the last 27 years and the relatively new TTC Classic Car Show.

Tendring Technology College has moved quickly to fill the gap left by the demise of the TCA.

The Fun Run event will still go ahead, organised by the school, but will happen in June rather than the usual May date.

But the car show has been scrapped this year, with a view to reviving it next year.

Principal Caroline Haynes said: “It is a shame to lose the old organisation but we are excited to move forward and find new ways to engage with our students, parents and the community.”

The school is now looking at ways to safeguard the future of its big events.
