A WOMAN has been badly injured after fire ripped through a flat in Clacton.
Firefighters had to rescue a man from above the ground floor flat in the early hours of this morning.
The blaze started at 2.40am today in North Road.
Fire crews said the building was already well alight when they arrived.
Station Officer Scott Hepburn said: "When we arrived there was a fire burning fiercely in the living area of the ground floor flat and a man hanging out of the window of the first floor flat above.
"We bashed the door down and firefighters brought the man out to safety.
"The woman who lives in the flat which was alight was already out, but badly injured."
The victim was treated by paramedics. The extent of her injuries is unknown.
