A MAN who tried to help his brother get away with murder has been released from jail after serving about a quarter of his sentence.
John Redman, 20, was jailed in May for conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
Edward Redman, of Weyland Drive, Stanway, stabbed Jay Whiston, 17, to death outside a house party in Colchester and was jailed for 17 years.
John, and his father Gary who is due to be released next month for the same crime, destroyed evidence and then lied about it.
Jay’s mum, Caroline Shearer, is devastated.
She said: “They are saying you get two years for putting up stolen pictures of celebrities online and he got that for trying to cover up murder - then he comes out five months later despite destroying evidence."
John Redman was released yesterday.
