A MAN is in hospital after being stabbed in Brightlingsea last night.

The 27-year-old man, who is from the town, was taken to hospital with a serious neck injury.

The attack happened near the Brewers Arms pub on the corner of Victoria Place and New Street at about 11.20pm.

The man is in a stable condition.

Police officers are still at the scene this morning and a white white forensics tent has been set up outside the pub.

A second cordon has been put up outside the Kings Head pub in Ladysmith Avenue.

A spokesman from Essex Police said: “Police were called to Victoria Place in Brightlingsea shortly after 11.20pm on Wednesday October 15 following reports that a man had suffered puncture wounds to his neck.

“Officers and ambulance paramedics went to the location and a 27-year-old man from Brightlingsea was taken to hospital for treatment.

“He is currently in a stable condition. Police have cordoned off several areas in Victoria Place which are believed to be connected to this incident.

“Enquiries, including forensic searches at the scene, are continuing.”
