SCHOOLCHILDREN were inspired to create their own polling cards and hold an election of their own.
Youngsters at St Philomena’s School, in Frinton, put together a mock election.
They have had lessons on government and democracy as the general and local elections approach.
The children formed their own parties and policies to vie for votes.
They also followed strict polling procedures to make the experience authentic, using hand-made polling cards and a real ballot box.
In the end, the Tic Tac party – which stood for cash being spent on playground equipment and toys – triumphed with a convincing majority.
Year Six teacher Kathryn Oxley said: “The children thoroughly enjoyed the whole process, which went without a hitch due to the stringent planning of the polling team.”
