TRANSPORT Minister Patrick McLoughlin has admitted measures need to be taken to end congestion misery for residents and tourists at Frating’s A120 junction.

Mr McLoughlin also visited Weeley’s A133 Crown Green roundabout on the campaign trail with the Tory’s Clacton General Election candidate Giles Watling.

The A120 junction and the Crown Green roundabout both suffer from major traffic jams in the summer months as tourists make their way to and from the seaside.

Mr McLoughlin said: “I know just how important good transport links are and that is why the Conservative Party is investing record amounts in our infrastructure.

“I am grateful to Giles for showing me the Crown Green roundabout and it is clear that we need to relieve the congestion here.

“I know that if he is elected Giles will be pushing me all the way to make sure that a solution is found to the problems I saw and end the misery for local people and tourists.”

Mr Watling said action needs to be taken to relieve surrounding villages.

“We badly need investment to improve our roads and railways,” he said.

“I brought the Secretary of State for Transport to Weeley to discuss how to bring money to the area and how the A120 junction and A133 need upgrading.

“I want investment that will relieve heavy traffic from our villages and improve the experience for visitors.”

Mr Wtaling will be fighting for the Clacton seat at Thursday's election against Douglas Carswell (Ukip), David Grace (Lib Dem), Chris Southall (Green) and Tim Young (Labour).
