Man is charged and will appear in court after fatal car smash in Kirby Cross
A MAN has been charged after a crash in Kirby Cross which resulted in the death of a 95 year-old driver.
Charles Mayes died on December 12 last year after the fatal smash in Frinton Road, not far from his home.
His car was involved a crash with a Volvo tipper truck and Mr Mayes died at the scene.
A man was arrested soon after the incident and police have been completing their investigation since then.
Darren Kettley, 46, from Dagenham, has now been charged and is set to appear in court.
He has been charged with drink driving, failing to stop at the scene of an accident and failing to keep driver’s records.
He has been released on bail and will appear at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on June 23.
