WALTON’S popular Albion Beach has picked up a prized Blue Flag for the first time.
It is among 26 beaches across the East of England that will be flying flags that tell the public they are among the best in the country.
Tendring’s golden sands received five prestigious Blue Flags – one more than last year – with Albion Beach joining the top rank.
Clacton’s Martello Bay, Frinton, Brightlingsea and Dovercourt Bay all retained their flags.
Tendring Council spokeswoman Lizzie Ridout said it was an “amazing achievement and something the district can be really proud about”.
