A PLUCKY pensioner braved a blind date live on TV after clinching the chance to appear on the Paul O’Grady Show.

Gloria Johnson, 79, who lives at Corner House care home in Clacton, rubbed shoulders with the stars and even shared a dance with the famous host on his ITV show.

She went to London to take part in the special blind date feature.

Care home bosses in Clacton had been contacted to see if residents were interested in taking part in the show.

Gloria volunteered and had an interview with producers before being told on Monday she would feature on the following day’s programme.

She travelled to London for the day with care home staff member Tracy Josko, who said: “It was a brilliant day – they treated her like a star.

“The feature was like a comedy take on Blind Date where they had to answer questions about themselves.

“Gloria absolutely loved it and even got to have a little dance with Paul O’Grady on live television. I’m surprised she hasn’t been given her own slot on the show!

“It was her dream to be on TV and now she has achieved that."

Back in Clacton, the other Corner House residents gathered for a special tea party while watching Gloria’s screen debut.
