TWO women were seriously injured in a crash in the A133 in Elmstead Market.
Emergency services, including the air ambulance, were called to the road at 5pm this evening.
A woman in sixties was left with a head injury and a woman in her eighties has a suspected broken arm.
Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening and they were both taken to Colchester General Hospital.
They were trapped in a Peugeot 106 which was travelling towards Clacton and crossed onto the Colchester-bound carriageway.
The road was closed in both directions, causing long delays.
