CLACTON fundraisers powered through the streets of London alongside 2,000 other people to boost a cause close to their hearts.

Elizabeth Bone, of Clacton, took part in the Heart of London Bridges Walk to help raise money for Cardiac Risk in the Young.

She became involved in the charity after the sudden death of Guy Thomas, her partner and father of her children. He was just 44 when he died suddenly from an undiagnosed heart condition.

Elizabeth took part in the London walk with son Ben, daughter Tonie and a small group of friends and supporters.

They wore shirts bearing a picture of Guy while they completed the trek.

This was the ninth year of the cardiac charity’s flagship walk and the event has raised more than £500,000.

Charity chief and founder Alison Cox said: “This event is always a very emotional and poignant day and over the years has become associated with raising awareness and remembering those young people who have died, as much as fundraising.

"We are immensely grateful to Elizabeth for signing up to our Bridges Walk and helping us to make it a success.”
