A MAJOR jobs fair in Clacton is underway.

Hundreds of jobs are up for grabs at the annual event, taking place today at the Princes Theatre in Station Road, Clacton.

It will run until 4.30pm this afternoon.

A mass of potential employers have displays, including private firms, the Army, Navy and police.

Stansted Airport will be represented at the jobs fair for the first time. Other employers include Marks and Spencer, Costa Coffee, Wilko, Surya Foods and Hotels, Milsom Hotels, Premier Inn, Rose Builders, Sainsbury’s, Abellio Greater Anglia, NatWest, Barclays and Systems Logistics International.

It is run by Tendring Council and the Jobcentre.

Council leader Neil Stock said: “Last year, over 1,500 people visited the event and there were actually 600 jobs available on the day.

“Opportunities such as this one are not to be missed, and jobseekers will be able to talk directly with representatives from the employers and training providers, which no other recruitment method offers.

“With free advice and support on hand for everyone, it’s also a chance to go window shopping for a wide range of different careers, gather useful information and plan future action.”
