PLANS to rebuild a house destroyed by a gas explosion in Clacton have been approved.

The 1960s council house in Cloes Lane was destroyed following a huge blast in February 2014.

An investigation into the blast found there had been a fault with a valve on a gas cylinder at 201 Cloes Lane. Ten people were left injured and a total of 24 homes were affected.

The other half of the semi-detached building also had to be pulled down.

Plans to rebuild the Tendring Council-owned house were approved by the authority’s planning committee on Tuesday.
