A FLAMING beacon will be lit at Walton and Frinton Yacht Club tonight in a special celebration to mark the Queen’s birthday.
A chain of beacons throughout the country are being lit today as part of the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations, and the Walton-based club is taking part.
The clubhouse, in Mill Lane, will be open to the community for the event, which starts at 6.45pm and includes a barbecue, drinks and live music.
Walton and Frinton lifeboat crew members will light the beacon at about 7.45pm.
A spokesman said the club was “honoured” to be taking part and excited to put on an event for the community to celebrate the milestone.
