A BURGLAR fled empty-handed after being disturbed while trying to break into a Clacton home.

The man tried to break into the house in Thorpe Road by forcing open a rear door at 3.15pm on Friday May 20, but was disturbed by the occupant.

Police have launched an appeal in a bid to catch the would-be crook.

He is described as white, about 5ft 8ins tall with a medium build, aged about 35. He had black hair and was wearing a black and white striped top.

Officers have also appealed for information on a Jaywick car break-in.

The silver Skoda in Chaucer Close was raided overnight between Monday May 16 and the following day.

Anyone with information on the incidents should call 101.
