MORE than 100 dogs plus owners took part in a Fete and Fun Dog Show at Little Clacton.

The National Animal Welfare Trust raised £2,365 from the event which enjoyed a “fantastic turnout” during fine weather.

“It was great to see so many dogs enjoying a day out,” said NAWT fundraiser Rebecca Catchpole.

The fete on Sunday August 21 included many stalls plus raffles, tombola’s, bric-a-brac, tarot, children’s games, NAWT stall, BBQ, Ice cream, cakes, and crafts.

The dog show had 8 fun categories, judged by Poppy’s Parlour and guest Judge, NAWT supporter and fundraiser, Louise Jacobs. There was also a dog play field area next to the dog ring, with balls, paddling pool and toys.

Among the notable pets were Barney, who won best trick for his begging skills.

Fourth in best trick was Merlin and Taylor, a pair of scruffy terriers, which features Merlin who can collect tissues from a box, and Taylor can do the twist.

A one-eyed dog was fourth in best rescue and a pair of Bassett Hounds were top in Fabulous Family.

“Our fundraisers are vital to the centre as along with the day to day running of the centre, we ensure each cat and dog is neutered, vaccinated, Microchipped, flea and worm treated,” Rebecca explained.

“A huge thank you to everybody who came along and supported NAWT Clacton,” she said.
