ALMOST 3,300 twinkling Christmas tree lights will brighten the streets of Clacton this year.
The town's traditional lights are being replaced by more than 40 artificial Christmas trees on lamp posts along Pier Avenue, Station Road, Rosemary Road and High Street.
Each 3ft-high tree has 80 solar-powered LED bulbs.
They will be switched on by X Factor and panto star Stevi Richie on December 3 Clacton Town Partnership chairman Graham Webb said: “I’m sure they will light up the town this Christmas, while the fact that they are run by solar power is also welcome because it means we won’t have to pay anything extra for the electricity and it reduces the town’s carbon footprint.
“Hopefully since Clacton is on the Sunshine Coast, there will be enough sunlight to give them all the power they need.”
