THE green light has been given for up to 50 new homes in Great Bentley after Tendring Council lost another planning appeal.

A government inspector overturned council refusal of Welbeck Strategic Land's proposals for a site west of Heckford’s Road.

Simon Warder also awarded costs against the council, which will have to be agreed with the developers.

He said the main issue was the effect on pedestrian safety of a proposed footpath south of the site.

County council highways bosses had not objected to the scheme, which included measures to slow traffic.
