A DEVOTED dog owner is hoping to raise enough money to help cover the cost of her canine’s life changing surgery.

Keiley Verbruggen, 33, had to rush her King Charles Caviller Cross called Randolf into an emergency vets after he fell ill on New Year’s Day.

Keiley, who lives in Jaywick Village, said a number of complications led to Randolf having to have two major operations on the day.

He had to have emergency spinal surgery for a slipped disk in his lower back.

But then the little dog also had to have reconstructive surgery on his groin after it was severely damaged.

Randolf is currently recovering at Dick White Referrals, one of the largest specialist veterinary centres in Europe, based in Newmarket.

Keiley and partner Dean, 39, are hoping he will be well enough to bring home soon.

Keiley said seven-year-old Randolf is currently being looked after by specialists and she hoping he is on track for a good recovery.

However, the care has come at a cost.

Vets estimate the bill for the surgery and follow up treatment will run to about £8,000.

Now Keiley has launched a fundraising page in the hopes of raising some money towards the cost.

Keiley said: “Randolf has helped me in my earlier years when I lost some of my hearing and he would always run to me to get my attention and let me know if someone was at the door.

“He is just an amazing little dog and I have even taken him on holiday with me to Scotland and he has also come camping with me and my partner.”

Keiley is hoping to raise £5000 to help cover the cost of his surgery, which vets have estimated will cost up to £8000.

To help raised money Keiley set up a Just Giving fundraising page for Randolf at the beginning of January and has until the end of the month to try to reach the target of £5,000.

She said: “We have had 12 sponsors at the moment and have spread the word to friends and relatives in America, Canada, Cyprus and Ireland.

“We hope there are some big hearted animal lovers who may be able to help Randolf.”
