A FARMER has been given the go ahead to site "glamping pods" on his land in St Osyth.

Robert Clarke of Lee Wick Farm already has a timber clad shipping container for accommodation as well as a converted cart lodge and stable cottage for guests to use.

Now Tendring Council has agreed for three glamorous camping, known as 'glamping', pods to be sited on paddock land.

The area is in the countryside and the Coastal Protection Belt but due to landscaping and hedging it is felt that the impact of the scheme will be minimal.

The proposal is seen as a boost for rural tourism and a condition has been placed on the planning approval to ensure the pods are not lived in for more than 28 days at any one time.

St Osyth Parish Council had no objection and Tendring Council received no other representations.
