SALON stars are in the running to be crowned the best in the business at an annual hairdressing awards ceremony.

Emma Bedwell and Lisa-Marie Seldon, who work at Hoop Hairdressing, in Clacton, have reached the final of the Hairdressing Journal’s British Hairdressing Awards.

They could now be named the best in the whole of the East of England.

The duo, who have been working on their entries since September last year, submitted eight images showcasing their handiwork.

Art Director Emma Bedwell, 27, has been working at the hairdressers based in Clacton since she was 15-years-old.

She said the competition is the equivalent of the Bafta awards for hairdressing and they’re looking forward to the final.

She said:“We submitted a few quirky ideas and we had a client model the hairstyles too.

“We’re really excited now, because when we entered we were really nervous as it’s a bit thing.

“We never thought it would get to this point.

“We’re just so excited to be going into the competition, all our clients know about it and that we’ve entered.”

Hundreds of people entered the competition which opened in March.

Emma and Lisa-Marie will attend the final which will be held at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Saturday, November 27 in London’s Park Lane.
