A WOMAN who has spent more than 50 years helping to save lives has received a special award.
Di Kedge travelled to the Guildhall in London to be given the Royal Lifesaving Society's highest award.
She was one of just three people to receive long service medal for more than 50 years of teaching lifesaving skills.
Diana did her early teaching with Clacton Swimming Club for children aged 8-16 years, when they were included in her Pool Lifeguard courses at the then Valley Farm pool.
She also coached her lifesaving squad in the pool on Saturdays, with many going on to become national champions.
Daughter Sarah went on to compete at international level.
Diana also competed in the national championships and twice became a national champion.
She now trains lifesaving skills to swimming teachers at Clacton Swimming Club and Clacton County High School.
