A MAN will face court charged with theft from the pub where he worked.
Jamie Steeves was employed as a manager at the Never Say Die pub in Jaywick.
Colchester Magistrates’ Court heard Steeves, 41, from Chelmsford, had been accused of failing to bank £6,794.
A total of £600 was also found to be missing from the safe.
Kathy Wilson, prosecuting, said: “The pub owner had employed him in a position of trust, he was responsible for banking the takings.
“Issues came to light as the owner was concerned about discrepancies.”
Steeves did not enter a plea when he appeared at the court.
The case will be heard at Chelmsford Crown Court next month. He was remanded in custody.
