PLANS have been submitted for the creation of six one-bedroom flats at the site of a chalet bungalow in Clacton.

The proposals will see the existing building in Old Road, next to Waterglade Retail Park’s service road, converted along with awell as the construction of 1.5-storey extension.

Blueprints include a new drop kerb, associated car and cycle parking, cycle parking and refuse areas at the 688sqmetre site.

A planning statement says the existing front of the building will remain the same.

It added: “The use will continue the established usage of the residential build-up of flats in this area, the proposed development will provide much-needed accommodation for one-bedroom apartments within a town centre location.”

Previous plans for six studio apartments at the site were rejected by council planners last year.

Tendring Council is expected to make a decision is expected on the new plans by June 7.
