COLCHESTER councillors have given more than 15 stones of food to the town’s food bank.
The food was collected by councillors from all political parties and is said to be enoughto provide 231 meals.
Food Bank manager Linda Hurr collected the food at Thursday’s full council meeting.
She said: “Our very generous councillors donated all this food. It is nothing to do with politics, but all to do with the generosity of people’s hearts.”
The collection was organised by Shrub End councillor Lyn Barton, who said: “At this time of year it’s particularly important to recognise a lot of people find Christmas very difficult.”
