CHILDREN at St James’s Primary School in Colchester are wheeling for joy after their new playground was unveiled.
Pauline Batley, headteacher at the school in Guildford Road, Colchester, said the last playground was about 20 years old and had been in desperate need of replacing.
The new surface cost £12,000, with £10,000 coming from the Big Lottery Fund.
The playground is used at break times and for children's sports lessons and after-school cycling safety sessions.
Mrs Batley said: “It will help to make our children fitter for the future.”
Year 6 pupils are pictured celebrating the new surface.
