RESIDENTS can attend events in Colchester, Clacton and Walton on October 14 to find out more about cuts to NHS funded hearing aids.

North East Essex Clinical Commissioning Group says the move will only affect patients whose hearing loss is up to 37 decibels.

Adults who have hearing aids already will not have them taken away.

The group said research showed large numbers of patients given a hearing aid often did not wear them.

Under the proposals, individuals with a mild hearing loss of between 38 and 40 decibels, as well as those with a moderate, severe or profound hearing loss would remain unaffected.

Patients with clinical exceptions would remain unaffected.

More information about the proposals will be given at the Columbine Centre, Walton, between 11am and noon, Sam’s Hall, Rosemary Road, Clacton, between 2pm and 3pm and at the Primary Care Centre in Colchester's Turner Road from 5pm to 6pm.
