TWO youngsters have clinched outstanding achievement awards for their contributions at Clacton Cricket Club.

Clacton County High School pupils Josh Read and Regan Taylor have both been handed Jack Petchey achiever awards for driving the junior club forward.

They were nominated by club secretary Gary Kirk and singled out for special praise for their achievements so far.

Mr Kirk said: “Josh is always keen to learn, attending every practice, and is now an integral part of under-12s team, representing Clacton in local competitions.

“He shows that with dedication and enthusiasm you can really enjoy a sport and the fun that it brings.

“Regan is another young man who enjoys and plays a lot of sport.

Through his confidence and eagerness to do well, he is a natural ambassador for our club.

“He was a big part of the under-12s team league win in 2015 and by playing up two school years, helped the under-15s team win their league.”

Clacton County High School leaders also congratulated the talented pair on their prizes, as well as fellow pupil Emily England, who took part in the Jack Petchey Speak Out challenge.
