A gun-toting man robbed a security guard at HSBC bank in Great Dunmow.

Officers were contacted just before 11am this morning, Thursday, June 23, with reports a security guard was robbed of a cash box while making a delivery to the bank.

One suspect, reported to be holding a firearm, was responsible.

He had his face covered, was around 5ft 10ins tall and dressed in dark clothing.

No one was injured.

Detectives are linking a car found on fire in nearby Mill Lane with the robbery.

The car is a blue Volkswagen Golf and officers want to hear from anyone who saw it in the High Street prior to the robbery to contact them at the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate on 101.

Memebers of the public had reported seeing a police presence in the town and the police helicopter.
