A CARE farm has been handed close to £10,000 to revolutionise their IT facilities.

Wellies-On, which is based in Abberton, put in a successful bid for money from the National Lottery's Awards for All scheme.

Now the group, which helps out anyone who may benefit from being in the countryside and working on a farm, have their own internal server which has helped to solve a lot of computer issues.

Managing director Ellie Goff said: "We are over the moon with it.

"Before we were running on donated PCs and and things handed to us from others organisations.

"It is very difficult to get IT up to the standard we need as we work in the health and social care industry and in education.

"We have an internal server now and it means we had to share a single USB sticks to get information between us or send lots of emails.

"It is going to make a huge difference to us - it already has and it has only been in place a week."

Among the services on offer at Wellies On is a flat pack farm which offers the chance for people who for whatever reason cannot make it to the farmyard a chance to meet animals and enjoy the experience.

Ellie added: "It is a privilege for us to go and visit places like care homes.

"We can go to end of life wards and take animals to people's bedsides.

"It is a wonderful project for us to be part of and we hope it makes a real difference."
