MORE than 50 greyhounds patrolled around the town as part of a global initiative to bring dog lovers together.
A Great Global Greyhound Walk took place in Colchester and the theme this year was ‘love is all around’.
Greyhounds and a whippet gathered with their owners at St Botolph’s priory for the start of the walk.
Each hound was given a goody bag containing dog treats, a medal and certificate for completing the walk.
Hand-made dog snoods were available for a small donation and there was also a portable photo booth for dressing up with the beautiful dogs.
Donations totalled almost £340 which is to be split between Clarks Farm Greyhound Kennels and Dunton Greyhound re-homing kennels.
The happy hounds walked for 90 minutes around Castle Park, having several treat stops on the way, finishing up at the Goat and Boot in East Hill.
Next year's walk will take place on Sunday, June 9.
There is also a regular greyhound walking group at High Woods Country Park on Facebook.
