A YOUNG boy has died after being airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a road accident.

Michael Gibson, nine, was taken to Addenbrooke's hospital in Cambridge by air ambulance after he was in collision with a Honda Civic in Wellesley Road nearthe junction with Alexandra Road, Clacton at about 2pm on Sunday.

Michael, of Wellesley Road, later died.

Bill Stock, Essex Police spokesman, said: "A red Honda Civic was in collision with the boy in the carriageway. The car was also in collision with two parked cars.

"Tragically, despite the prolonged efforts of members of the public and medical staff, the boy sadly died."

A 24-year-old man and a 23-year-0ld man have been arrested in connection with the accident.

Police cordoned off the area yesterday and closed a number of roads while they carried out an investigation.
