Dovercourt grandmother of twins who ran off is overwhelmed by support
6:00pm Friday 25th January 2013 in Harwich and Manningtree News
THE gran of twin girls who sparked a 14-hour search says she is overwhelmed by the help the family were offered.
Cheyenne and Paris-Louise Brennan, of Third Avenue, Dovercourt, escaped through a bedroom window at about 1am on Sunday morning after picking a window lock and tying a duvet to a bed post.
Their escaped sparked a manhunt by police, coastguard and scores of residents who scoured nearby beaches and possible hiding spots.
Despite the town being pounded by snow and sub-zero temperatures, Cheyenne, who suffers asperger’s syndrome, and Paris-Louise, who suffers oppositional defiance disorder, spent 14 hours on the run.
The troublesome pair were eventually found hiding in bushes near Dovercourt Swimming Pool, Wick Lane, by the Walton Coastguard team.
Their relived grandmother, Tracy Zeghli, 48, said: “I could not believe they had done it.
“I was frantic with worry and hysterical all day that they would freeze to death.”
“I was overwhelmed by the sheer amount of people who helped to look."
