Electric Palace cinema enters new dimension

A CINEMA built 100 years ago has leapt to the forefront of technology by installing 3D equipment.

The Electric Palace, in King’s Head Street, Harwich, unveiled its 3D system last night, Friday, February 1.

Life of Pi, nominated for 11 Oscars, will be shown again today, Febraury 2, at 2pm in an official launch.

The new technology follows the cinema’s centenary project for a digital projector.

Chris Strachan, of the Electric Palace Trust, said keeping up with new technology was one of the reasons the cinema had survived.
