Work planned to change market square to car park

First published in Harwich and Manningtree News by

CONTRACTORS will next week start transforming a market square into a temporary car park in a bid to support the town’s retailers.

A new layout will be created at Manningtree’s Market Square on Monday, February 11, to make it more driver-friendly.

A new entrance will be installed at Brooke Street and a yellow height barrier will be replaced with a pair of low level black gates more in keeping with the local environment.

The existing access in Station Road will remain to provide entry only for the market traders and will be secured with locking posts on non-market days.

What a waste of money.... this is supposed to be temporary, its starting to look permanent. Obviously I go to town at the wrong times because its always nearly empty when I see it.
