The Highways Agency said they are waiting to do a 12 month review before any changes are implemented on the A120.

The roads authority finished improvements to the Hare Green junction in April, which was supposed to reduce accident numbers.

But many drivers say reducing the road from a dual carriageway to single is confusing and the crossing dangerous.

Two women had to be cut from their cars last Friday, February 1 after two separate accidents on the A120. The first was at Hare Green between two cars. In the second, a lorry and car collided just before the police road block.

A Highways Agency spokesperson said: "We are aware of the incidents on the A120 on Friday, February 1 and our thoughts are with those involved. Due to the ongoing police investigation it would not be appropriate for us to comment on these particular cases or speculate on the cause of the incidents.

"Safety remains our top priority and we continue to monitor safety along the A120, as we do on all our roads. We participate in any relevant investigations following incidents and any data that suggests a change to the road layout would deliver safety benefits is carefully considered.

"A safety audit of the improvements completed at this junction last April is due to be carried out in April this year. This will assess how well the junction is working and if any further measures will be required."

For goodness sake it is not the road or the junction it is drivers who don't look properly when coming out of the junction or think they are clever and try to get out in front of a fast moving vehicle. I think the junction is absolutely fine. It's the drivers who need educating not the junction changing.

multitaskers missing the point....if lights or a roundabout replaced what is there now.....people would have to stop / give way / adhere to lights..

Road marking are clear! Its down to bad driving. The only way to combat this is to stop right turns at this junction.

SOMETHING2SAY I am not missing the point, I agree with bloke down the pub it is entirely bad driving. Any normal sensible driver will stop at the stop line anyway to check before turning right, if they don't then they are idiots. IF people drove properly the accidents wouldn't happen, if they stopped at the line where they are supposed to. I use the junction a couple of times every day and never have any problems, visibility is clear and sensible people don't take risks. Its a waste of money putting in roundabout or lights and not necessary

It is mainly down to bad driving that causes the accidents on that part of the road. but you know what... it only takes one bad driver to kill someone. and there are bad drivers out there that you cant do anything about. Well done to those commenting on here for being excellent drivers. That wont always stop some idiot from smashing into YOUR car. Then you may change your opinion.
