Confusion as dog mess bins disappear on Dovercourt Promenade

RESIDENTS have hit out after dog poo bins were removed from Dovercourt Promenade.

David Smith, of Manor Road, Dovercourt, said he had received complaints after Tendring Council took the bins earlier this month.

Nick Turner, Tendring Council's cabinet member for the environment and coast protection, said the council has removed several post bins which were on rusty metal poles.

He said: “These were not the specific red dog bins but normal post bins for any type of waste and they have been taken away because they are well past their best.

“However, we have wheelie bins along that same area which can also be used by dog walkers provided the bags are properly secured."

Cllr Turner said he understood the area will be busier in the season and the number of wheelie bins will be increased accordingly.
