CRASH UPDATE: Four vehicles in road crash

A MULTI-vehicle crash has taken place on a danger road.

A lorry and three cars were believed to be involved in the smash, between Pellens Corner and the A133.

Police were called at 1.25pm this afternoon, February 19.

A Volvo lorry, Ford Puma, Peugeot 307 and Hyundai i10 were in the collision.

The road is closed between Little Bromley Road at Pellens Corner and the A133.

Ambulance and paramedics were called to the scene. No one is believed to be seriously injured.

Recovery is ongoing.

Yet more mayhem at a great financial cost to the motorist and the taxpayers. Waiting on a review is unacceptable.
Those who state that the problems are down to bad drivers and changes are a waste of time and money obviously do not understand the concept of traffic management. If there is a problem you try to resolve it in the best possible way regardless of money but it would appear life is cheap. Many more accidents would have occured if not for the good drivers alertness. Even a 50mph limit will not stop the morons crawling out of the side roads into the path of other vehicles. I know this because I was in a vehicle to which this happened, a breakdown truck with a vehicle on the back. We were travelling at about 45mph when 2 vehicles pulled across our path, one going straight over and the other turning left. The driver of the truck did well to avoid a collision. There was also the incident with the school bus and the Fiesta. No action was taken by the police against the "professional" driver of the bus and he retained his license according to the report in the Standard. We want action now before another death.

These accidents are down to poor or careless driving or both. Its as simple as that. I have never had problems with this junction even when it had the 'old' layout. My wife who is a nervous driver never has problems either. Its just down to poor driving that we have all these accidents.

This report appears to be about an accident at a junction with the A133, not the A120 so not sure why the A120 graphic has been used.

Scoot I totally agree with you 100% it is stupid and careless drivers and they should undergo re-tests. I also use this junction daily and have no problems, I think visibility is good and it is up to the driver to judge correctly. There are many junctions connecting to the A120 and there are never any accidents on them so it is just impatient drivers coming out of these junctions that are the problem. people who don't want to wait a minute and would rather take a risk or someone who cannot judge speed and distance correctly. Money does not need to be wasted again at this junction, maybe cameras shoudl be set up there to take details of the idiots who try to make a dash out of the junction and they should be reported for driving dangerously and given a re-test.

This accident was nothing to do with the junctions it was an incident involving a lorry and a problem it had which caused a knock on effect. Nothing to do with anyone coming in or out of the the junctions.

It's easy to blame bad driving for accidents, but there are many reasons for such incidents - one, which I mentioned before the first accident happened, after the reworking of the junction - was the 'clutter' around the junction mentioned. Signs, road markings, barriers, narrowing of the road - and more - are all distractions, and while drivers need to concentrate on the junction, distractions mislead, misinform (there is a 'speed camera' sign, but no camera, for example) and generally confuse. Experiments elsewhere in the world show that where there is a minimum of 'clutter' (absence of any road markings, for example), people drive much more carefully in 'danger' areas. As a motorcyclist, it's in my interest to remain safe throughout this area, but even to my eagle eyes, it's a mish-mash of 'road furniture', 'extraneous clutter' and narrowing roads that tend to bunch vehicles together instead of filtering them through in good fashion. No-one listens to us road-users though.
