Lunch club's new future
7:30am Wednesday 27th February 2013 in Harwich and Manningtree News
A POPULAR lunch club is set to be taken over by a learning disability trust.
Foundry Court’s Lunch Club, which was in danger of closing, was kept open after councils and a voluntary group stumped up cash to create a £25,000 rescue package in 2011.
But Colne Housing, which runs the club, has announced that it will be outsourced to The Dacon Trust, which runs the Art Cafe in Colchester.
The resident kitchen will be put back into use and the new Oasis cafe is set to become the home of the lunch club.

He said: "After a considered review, Essex County Council has decided to close the day service which is currently only used twice a week by very few people."
If this quote is accurate it would appear the Lunch Club is not "popular" and was costing the taxpayer £25,000 per annum.
