A YOUNG swimmer is taking on a charity challenge in memory of his grandad.

Cody Double, aged 11, is raising money for Marie Curie Cancer Care by taking on a 2.5k swimming challenge in Dovercourt Pool.

He is hoping to raise £500 for the charity to add to the cash donated to Macmillan Nurses by residents after Les’ funeral.

Zoe Double, Les’ daughter, said: “The total amount being gifted to Macmillian cancer nurses is an amazing £920.33.

“I know that my dad would of been very humbled by the generosity of the town he loved.”

To carry on fundraising Cody will be taking to the pool on April 27. To help Cody reach his goal of £500 visit swimathon.org and put in his name, Cody Double.

Alternatively a sponsorship form will be at Harwich Connexions in the Park Pavilion, Barrack Lane, Dovercourt.
