Quarter of NHS staff suffering violence at work

MORE than a quarter of health staff in north Essex have suffered physical violence from patients, their relatives, or the public, a report has revealed.

Figures for the area are worse than the national average of 20 per cent.

The survey carried out by the NHS's North Essex Partnership also found 40 per cent of staff had experienced harassment or bullying from patients, compared to 30 per cent nationally.

And nearly a quarter said they had experienced harassment or bullying from staff.

Almost half of the 1,750 staff surveyed had suffered work-related stress.

North Essex Partnership provides mental health, drug abuse and social care services for more than 23,600 people in north Essex.
