PRINCESS Anne is set to visit Harwich.

The Princess Royal will be visiting Trinity House, in Harwich Quay, in her role as master of Trinity House.

Residents can catch a glimpse of the princess when she arrives at Trinity House at about 2.45pm on March 12. She will meet dignitaries outside the building before taking a private tour of the offices and buoy yard to see the operational side of Trinity House.

As master of Trinity House, the Princess Royal follows in the footsteps of her father, the Duke of Edinburgh, who resigned from the position in 2011 after 42 years.

The post is now largely honorary, but traditionally the master had communication with the reigning monarch and government.

Past masters include Samuel Pepys and the Duke of Wellington.
