Rescue for broken down yacht
A SAILING yacht had to be rescued after suffering gearbox failure off Shotley Spit.
The Harwich inshore lifeboat was launched at 1pm on Sunday March 10 to assist the 30ft yacht ‘Puffin’ with two people onboard.
The vessel reported the failure before sailing herself to safe anchorage.
On arrival the lifeboat passed a tow line to the crew and towed the yacht safely into Shotley marina for repairs.
The lifeboat returned to station at 1:50pm.
