A BLAZE survivor has been discovered more than a year after a fire gutted five homes.
Smokey the goldfish was discovered in a pond in the garden of 32 West Street by contractors.
Five families were left homeless by the December 2011 blaze.
The pond had been completely covered in plywood and plastic since then but miraculously Smokey survived.
Rose Builders discovered the 75mm fish just weeks before they were due to hand the property back to Tendring Council.
