Potholes are not repaired fast enough, say councillors

COUNCILLORS have claimed Tendring is the ‘poor relation’ of Essex amid fears it is overlooked concerning roads and maintenance.
Mistley Parish vice-chair Andrew Birch attended a meeting of the Tendring Association of Local Councils last month.
He said councils across the district felt it took much too long for action to be taken over pot holes, damaged road signs and lampposts to be repaired.
He said: “We are the poor relations of Essex. It takes far, far too long to repair pot holes."
An Essex County Council spokesperson, said: “We maintain one of the largest road networks in the country of 8,500 miles of roads and footpaths and we are currently carrying out an extensive programme of work to maintain and enhance the county’s road network."
